Known for The Lord of the Rings trilogy, Wellington has more recently played host to:

Feature films: King Kong, Black Sheep, Eagle vs Shark, The Water Horse, Avatar, Second Hand Wedding, Separation City and The Lovely Bones.

Wellington is also making its mark in the digital media space with productions including Sidhe Interactive's video games ‘Speed Racer’, MTV's ‘jackass the game’ and the release of their own self-published title, ‘Shatter’.

Film Wellington offers a free support service to local and international productions and does everything from providing information and introductions to sourcing locations and issuing film permits.

24 Aug 2010 Support Wellington’s film community Wellington film maker, Jason Stutter's, film Predicament opens in cinemas August 26. This film shows off Wellington's talent in many ways; two of the film's leads are from Wellington: Jemaine Clement (from Flight of the Conchords) and newcomer Hayden Frost, who plays the main character.

24 Mar 2010 Hong Kong’s First “Dr. Grordbort’s Exceptional Exhibition” Hong Kong Cyberport Management Company Limited and Weta Workshop Limited are pleased to jointly present Hong Kong’s first Dr. Grordbort’s Exceptional Exhibition, which is now open to the public free of charge from now to May 2010 at The Arcade, Cyberport. Aimed at early-to-mid career women, the mentoring programme matches successful applicants with senior practitioners for twelve hours of paid mentoring to gain knowledge and skills, build confidence and self-critique work, progress projects, deal with professional issues and advance in their chosen field.
