“I estimate around 80% of people don’t know what resource consents they have, or about compliance requirements, or how to go about managing a resource consent after it’s been approved,” says Kerry.
Hands up if you’ve ever had to go through the resource consent process, only to get horribly confused and give up?
It’s a common dilemma, says Kerry Geange of Wairarapa-based company Geange Consulting.
“I estimate around 80% of people don’t know what resource consents they have, or about compliance requirements, or how to go about managing a resource consent after it’s been approved,” says Kerry.
Having worked in the US, UK and New Zealand for many years, Kerry was keen to pass on his knowledge and, more importantly, demystify the process for individuals and commercial entities.
“That’s why we developed QuickTick, a company aimed at developing tools and processes to make resource consents easy, whether that’s applications, hearings, submissions, monitoring or compliance.”
The first software tool to be developed is the QuickTick MonitorPro, an online resource consent and property document management tool that not only increases certainty but reduces the time, cost and frustration associated with managing resource consents.
“The advantage with this tool is that you can have secure access to expert consent advice as well as to all your resource consent and other important records via your unique login at any time or from anywhere. It generates compliance programmes, tracks and reports progress and compliance over time, and assists with the operational management of allocated resources - for example, annual or seasonal ground or surface water measurements, or for consented discharges to water, land or air.”
Despite being in business for two years, Kerry said he felt he needed a “greater impetus” to prioritise QuickTick.
“I found out about Activate through the local Chamber of Commerce, and it has been valuable in increasing my support and business network. More importantly, it gave me the kick up the backside I needed to get this moving!”
Kerry’s consulting work currently takes him all over the lower and central North Island. The drive now is on to develop further tools in the QuickTick suite and to roll out the products nationwide.
