The film, titled Players, will be utilizing many of Wellington’s iconic features including the waterfront, the City to Sea Bridge, and Civic Square.
Two of Bollywoods biggest actors Abhishek Bachchan and Sonam Kapoor will star in the movie, which is expected to create massive interest in tourism to Wellington.
“A typical Bollywood movie is seen by over 6 million people. The silver screen is where people often see their dream locations. The film’s Producers want Wellington to look great and gorgeous. We look forward to people seeing that and think “Wow, that looks amazing, I have to go there” Says Delia Shanly, Manager, Film Wellington.
Film Wellington has been involved in securing the filming by helping source the locations, facilitating the logistics of obtaining the permits required for street closures, and ensuring the 100 strong film crew are getting the shots they need to make Wellington shine.
“This is a really exciting project and the fact that a multimillion dollar budget Bollywood film production company wants to film here reinforces Wellington as being both film friendly and our film industry being world class.” says Delia.
